MINI VAN/MINI TRUCK/SMALL SUV
Compact Truck – Any two wheel drive mini truck that came factory with 4 or 6 cylinders. (No full size trucks, 4x4, or El Caminos) Beds may be mounted with no more than 4 5/8” Max bolts, Max 3” Washers.
Compact SUV- Any small to mid-size SUV using only 2 wheel drive only(can originally be 4WD as long as 4 wheel drive assemblies are disabled and removed.) Must have come factory with 4 or 6 cylinders and be less than 116” center of front wheel to center of rear wheel. No open Jeeps or full sized SUV’s such as Blazers, Yukons, Suburbans, Expeditions, 2004-up Dodge Durangos, etc. If you have a vehicle in question be sure to check prior to the event.
Mini Vans- Any small minivan using only 2 wheel drive (can originally be all wheel drive as long as 4 wheel drive assemblies are disabled.) No full size vans, cube vans, ambulances, handicap vans, blazers, broncos, suburban, etc.
1. Stock, Compact, TIN bumpers may be used, may be butt welded, bolted, AND or chained to FACTORY bumper shock. NEW 2024: 3x3 plate Max 1/8" may be welded (1 pass) ON TOP ONLY and ONLY to connect bumper to frame. If chain is used max 1 link may be welded to frame, this is only to keep bumper from falling off. NO Additional chain may be used. No Hard Nosing, must use factory mounting setup for that car. Two separate Single strands of #9 wire may go from bumper to top of core support ONLY, sheet metal to sheet metal ONLY, No added metal or mounts of any kind.
2. NEW 2023: All vehicles that have no OR smaller than Quarter size factory hole in the front frame sections (Ex: Some Toyota Camry) must put a quarter (25 cent coin) size hole Approx, 2-4” back the frame to ease inspection process and times
3. No shortening or modifications to crush areas or frame
4. All subframe mounts to remain stock
5. No pre bending/ creasing/wedging/dipping etc (Minor creasing/hammering may be done in line up after inspection to rear of car) CLARIFICATION you may do a basic trunk lid tuck AFTER inspection (trunk lid open for inspection)
6. No carb conversions
7. Headers allowed in all GSP Classes
8. Battery and gas tank may be moved into passenger area, secured, covered, and leak proof.
9. All components including Suspension and Steering must remain factory stock with the exception of aftermarket shifters allowed. No aftermarket parts allowed including but not limited to slider drive shafts, steering columns, protectors of any kind, transmission coolers, cradles, tie rods, gas/brake pedals, etc
10. 1 Front window bar or chain mandatory Max 3” wide, welded or bolted to first 2” of roof or cowl only
11. Back seat bar strongly recommended. 4 point cage allowed, Max 4”. 6x6” Max end plates ok. Gas tank shelf allowed, must come off of back seat bar and be a MINIMUM 8” off from any and ALL surfaces (floor, decks, humps, tunnels, trays, etc). Side Bars not to exceed 12” past driver door pillar. May have a back plate to protect tank straight up and down ONLY, Halo bar for safety allowed, must be straight up and down (Perpendicular to the ground) and attach only to back seat bar. NO Down legs/bars to floor area/kick panel/rocker other than driver side for driver protection (max of 2 to sheet metal only off side bar-nothing excessive) All cages must be safe and secure.
12. You may pre notch frame, no added metal or repair of notch in any way
13. Frame must remain 100% stock other than rule #12, body mounts must remain stock as well
14. Driver’s door may be welded Max 3” wide and may be reinforced and or plated, NOT to exceed 2” beyond driver’s door seams. All reinforcement of door MUST BE FLAT (no angle, c channel, tubing, etc for other driver protection) All other doors may be wired, bolted, or banded, belted 4 per door. Welded driver’s door counts as FRONT 2 spots for back driver side door on a 4 door vehicle. Pillars may be duct taped AFTER inspection
15. Rear axle of vehicle must remain stock other than welding posi for all stock classes
16. Tires must be DOT approved, max 8 ply, tubes OK, NO Mining, implement, tow motor, or skid tires allowed. No Sidewall protectors or flappers. NO VALVE STEM PROTECTORS.
17. Hoods and trunk lids may be wired, chained, seat belted shut in Max 6 places after inspection, no added metal or washers. HOOD may be wired to bumper in 2 places and will count toward the 6 places. Each lid must have a 12x12 opening.
18. Any and all factory components must be used in factory intended use, this applies to seat belts, suspension, or any other creative cross uses. Other than driver’s, seat belts should be removed or cut out.
19. No Additional wire/chain/bolts anywhere. No Fender, Hood, Trunk, or Roof bolts.
20. Rear window may have SINGLE wrap strand of #9 wire perpendicular(Up and Down),sheet metal to sheet metal only, within the first 3” of rear of roof lip, attached to speaker deck in factory location, and may be twisted tight only. No horizontal wiring
21. Bumper length not to exceed outside width of stock/straight tire position (Safety)
22. Any and all repairs to stock class prerun cars must be approved by officials via Facebook messenger @gspdemoderby or other approved means of communication. #9 wire limited use for repairs, ask first!!
